HAMILTON, Ont. -- The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed defensive tackle Linden Gaydosh on Thursday. Hamilton selected the six-foot-four, 305-pound Gaydosh first overall in the 2013 CFL draft. Shortly afterwards, Gaydosh signed as a free agent with the NFLs Carolina Panthers. After spending the entire 13 NFL season on injured reserve with a back injury, Gaydosh reported to the Panthers training camp before being sidelined with a foot ailment. He was released by the Panthers last month. Gaydosh, 23, of Peace River, Alta., enjoyed a solid collegiate career at the University of Calgary. He was Canadian university footballs top rookie in 2009 and helped Calgary reach the 2010 Vanier Cup, earning defensive MVP honours after returning an interception 20 yards for a TD in the teams 56-3 Hardy Cup win over Alberta. After receiving second-team all-Canadian honours in 2011, Gaydosh earned a second straight Canada West all-star nod and finished as the third-ranked prospect for the 2013 CFL draft but was taken first overall following an outstanding performance at the leagues annual evaluation camp. Hamilton also added international receiver Terrell Sinkfield to its practice roster. Sinkfield had seven catches for 90 yards and a TD in three games this season with the Toronto Argonauts before being released Aug. 26. According to a news release from RPM, Ambrose has informed the organization that he will return to his native home of Australia next year. RPM also noted that it is currently evaluating several driver opportunities for the No. 9, and the team will make a future announcement. Marcos will always be a part of our extended racing family, team co-owner Richard Petty said in a statement. He came over to the United States with his family and dedicated his time here to giving it the best he had each week. I couldnt ask anything more from Marcos and his commitment on and off of the track to our race team and our partners. Away from the track, hes a family person first. Thats something I respect and well miss Marcos, (wife) Sonja and their children (Tabitha and Adelaide). Ambrose has driven for RPM in Sprint Cup since the start of 2011 season. He has two career victories in NASCARs top series, with both of them occurring at Watkins Glen, a road course in Upstate New York. Ambrose finished second to A.J. There has been wide speculation for the past several months that Ambrose will return to his home country to compete in the Australian V8 Supercar Series, driving an entry for NASCAR and IndyCar Series team owner Roger Penske. Ambrose is a two-time champion of the V8 Supercar Series, a racing circuit that competes on road courses. He won his titles consecutively from 2003-04, scoring 27 race victories. Today is not the day to talk about anything about my racing future, Ambrose said. I feel like personally this is the right choice for myself and my family to call it a day here in the U.S. and move on to our next chapter. Sprint Cup is at Chicagoland this weekend for the first round in the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. Ambrose did not qualify for the Chase, but his teammate, Aric Almirola, made the 16-driver field with a victory in the rain-shortened July race at Daytona International Speedway. Ambrose is currently 23rd in the point standings. ' ' '
